· What do you want to eat?
· Do you want to go out with me?
· Can I kiss you?
Do any of these questions sound familiar? If you've asked them in the past, you're probably a "nice guy". I cringe when I hear that derogatory term, and so should you.
Years ago, I was about as "nice" as one could get. I smothered women with niceness to the point that it became vulgar. Needless to say, I never got past the first date.
Now why is that? Don't women always complain about a shortage of nice guys?
This is a classic case of miscommunication. Somehow, many men have the impression that being a "nice guy" is synonymous with being a "doormat". In reality, what women really want are men who will treat them right and sweep them off their feet.
Did you get that last part?
That is the number one ingredient that women are looking for. Every woman wants a man who can sweep her off her feet. Look at any successful romance novel or soap opera, the stuff that women are addicted to. What do the leading male figures all have in common?
For starters, he never asks, "Do you want to go out with me?" Instead, the hero says, "I'm going to play pool Friday night, wanna come?"
Instead of asking, "What do you want to eat for dinner?", the hero says "There's a very nice Italian restaurant on South Street, how's that?"
Instead of asking if he can kiss her, which is entirely unromantic. He simply stares into her eyes for a moment. If she doesn't look away, he kisses her. Simple as that.
The doormat, who must ask permission before doing anything, is seen as a child, and no woman wants to play the role of a baby-sitter. But by exerting a little control and demonstrating some initiative, you will set yourself apart from the doormats who finish last. You will distinguish yourself as a "real man" who has the potential to sweep her off her feet. So, it's on to date number two.
